about marcie

Hi! I’m Marcie.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a photography buff – orchestrating photo shoots during middle school slumber parties, bringing 3 rolls of film on school field trips, taking endless photos of butterflies and flowers in the backyard, and always begging my mom to take me to the closest drug store for one-hour printing and (of course) getting duplicates.

My muses.

But when my nieces and nephews were born, I had an even harder time putting the camera down. I wanted to capture everything – every smile, every day at the park, every cute pair of PJs. I didn’t want to miss anything and I wanted it captured on film forever.

My favorite photos of my nieces and nephews are the ones when I catch them playing, dancing, laughing – it’s the perfect snapshot of how I think of them. And yes, sometimes that playing, dancing and laughing happens in perfectly coordinated outfits in a beautifully landscaped location and sometimes it’s on the floor of the playroom or at the bottom of the slide.

Save the moment.

My goal as a photographer is to capture your memories the same way I capture my own and to help you remember your sweet newborn, shy toddlers, wild & crazy family or loving fiance exactly the way they are.  And yes, sometimes, that might include a meltdown (or a pacifier or a must-have Thomas train to prevent one).

I love taking photos in real-life settings – the nursery where new parents are spending their late nights, your kids’ favorite playground, the restaurant where a couple had the first date, and will work with you to find the perfect spot. When you look back at these photos, I want you to see more than just a beautifully composed and edited image, but a reflection of who your loved ones were on that very day.

Have camera. Will travel.

My full-time job has recently brought me back to Memphis, TN and I’m eager to reconnect with my favorite local families & meet new ones. With family, friends and work travel around the country, I will continue to shoot as often as possible in Washington, DC; Baton Rouge, LA; and Northwest Arkansas.
